Clinical study of cervical lymph node metastasis and malignant tumor in the maxilla



Abstract
To establish the treatment plan and to expect the prognosis in the oral & maxillofacial cancer, it is important to identify and classify the size and location of primary tumor, cervical lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis.
The treatment methods of oral and maxillofacial cancer are chemotherapy, irradiation, surgical excision and their combination. If cervical lymph node metastasis is found neck dissection shoud be performed, even though there was no clinical sign
of
cervical lymph node metastasis prophylactic neck dissection used to be performed to prevent the distant metastasis of cancer cells.
But we didn't perform the prophylactic treatment about cervical lymph node the cancer cell metastasis in cases of maxilla carcinoma. We could not find either cervical lymph node metastasis or cancer recurrence in the cervical lymph node in the 8
cases
of retrospective study of carcinoma in the maxila.
